The Daliens happened to stumble into the White Horse on its opening day back in December and now, 10 short months later, you will be able to stumble out after listening to them play there!
What a night! It was one for the ages. Red was great, we got to see a lot of our friends. Can't wait for next year!
We are going to be celebrating Buck's Birthday again and this year we are going one better. That's because we finally talked Red Simpson into coming out here and joining us!
Red Wrote 35 songs that Buck recorded and, of course, had big records on his own. Bear Family just put out a big 5 CD box on Red and He was the toast of Music City this year at the opening of the Bakersfield exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
To cap off a banner year, Red is coming back to Austin. So come on out to the Continental Club Sunday August 12th and see Red, Casper, Tall Tom, Earl, and all the gang.
Oh yeah, and the Daliens too!
Oildale “Daliens”
vs. "North of the River" Snobs
Recently, on our Facebook page, a number of negative
comments were directed toward some people featured in our “Dalien of the Day”
update. The fact that we are not the least bit worried, if we
have offended the delicate sensibilities of the people who commented, should be
well understood.
We do, however, want to apologize to any Dalien who may have
been discouraged, dismayed or otherwise bemused by the scurrilous comments that
appeared on our page. We intend the “Dalien of the day” feature to be
humorous, of course, but only in the sense that we are laughing with our
friends not at them. And we certainly do not intend to let them be
maligned when they are unable to defend themselves without a response.
We would like to think of Oildale as a unique place that is
appreciated by all who are fortunate enough to live there, and all the colorful
characters that make life more interesting as neighbors. Unfortunately,
“N.O.R.” snobs, who the want nothing more than to strip Oildale of its
eccentricity, and dissolve it into just another characterless "North of
the River" suburb of Bakersfield will always be among us.
They blame the Dalien for drugs and crime and everything
else that is wrong with their own meaningless existences and never appreciate
them for the good they do. While the Norsnob is whining, the Dalien is on
the street, tirelessly holding the line at the Chester avenue bridge, keeping
cowardly suburban phonies at bay. They keep the rents affordable and
consistently display the kind of individuality that scares the shit out of the
sort of people we loathe.
But why the Norsnob really hates the Dalien is because the average Dalien has
something this humorless nabob can never have or understand, PRIDE. Not
the “I’m better than you”, arrogant pride that the Norsnob displays to an
effort to cloak his own character deficiencies but the pride that says; “I have
a God given right to be here and if you don’t like it, that makes it even
sweeter”.
So we say thanks to all you Daliens out there. We wish
we were home right now. The weather getting good enough to show off those
new OILDALE tattoos you've been working
on all winter.
Keep Pissin' Off The Man,

"We want to thank Lucas Hudgins for inviting us to share in the Johnny Cash Birthday festivities. He put his heart into it and it showed. The vibe in the room was great and the performances were memorable. Carl Hutchens' version of "Hurt" was a stand out. Angie and Annie Rodriguez were a hoot. We loved meeting all the folks and look forward to doing it again next year." -the Daliens

Yep, it's true!
We are coming back to Viva and just in time for Christmas!
We hope to see all our friends. Come on out and help us celebrate the Holidays.
I am including this cautionary tale because it proves what we have known all along; karaoke is extremely detrimental to singer and listener alike.
On this night, everyone was a victim.
Senior Slugged, "My Way" Murdered
An Ontario County man will spend two and a half years in prison for brutally attacking a man who was singing karaoke.
Paul Collen, 42, was sentenced Wednesday.
Collen and the victim started fighting at a Naples hotel in March after Collen criticized the victim's karaoke signing.
Collen punched the victim so hard he went through a window. News 10NBC is told the victim is over 65-years-old and he suffered serious injuries to his head, nose and facial bones.
Doing our part to keep Austin weird...
Live Recording at Roadhouse Rags in South Austin
The Roadhouse is back in business for Jean Caffeine's CD release of "Geckos in the Elevator". Ned Dogherty on bass, Paul Martinez on guitar.
The Daliens hit the stage about 8:30pm. We've got NOT one, but TWO married couples bringin' the honky tonk action in the same band! Brett and Silvia Neal on guitar and bass, Dave and Karen Biller on steel guitar and drums, and our love child Jerry Don Motley on electric guitar.
Michael Comiskey will be closing the show from around 9:45 to 11:00
BYOB and Bring a dish if you want to pot luck it up!
The Band Keeps Playin'On!
The Daliens would like to thank: Casper Rawls, Dave Biller, Tom Lewis and David Carroll for letting us help celebrate, what would have been, Buck's 82nd birthday with them. We all had a great time at the 20th annual Buck bash. From the looks of the crowd they must have raised a fair amount of cash too.
When tragedy strikes all a hillbilly can do is sing about it.
and when your truck blows up and burns your trailer house down, well, if that's not a country song, I don't know what is.
